Please note: our dialup numbers recently changed. If you have been using one of the old numbers, you will need to modify your setup and use one of the new numbers in order to get online. Also, you don't need "@brandx.net" as you used to need with the old phone numbers. Brand X 56k dialup numbersSettingsIn order to use these dial-up numbers, you need to set the following:username = do not add @brandx.net to the end of your username. password = your password telephone number = see list below You must also change your OUTGOING (SMTP) mail server in your email program to smtp.brandx.net in order to be able to send mail when dialed in to these numbers.

Facts & Myths about toll charges.FACT The telephone companies charge you based on how far away the number you are calling is away from the number you are calling from. MYTH Any call in the same area code is local. MYTH Any call to another area code is a toll call. FACT All of these numbers go to the same bank of modems. MYTH If I have settings that haved worked in the past, I should change them whenever there is a problem. FACT Brand X does not guarantee that any number we provide is local or that you will not be charged for dialing it. FACT You can always determine whether a number is local and what the charges are for dialing it by dialing zero for the operator and asking him/her. MYTH I can use my old 28.8 dialup settings with these numbers and it will work just fine. FACT You must create a new dialup profile with the new settings. |
