Web Hosting & Co-Location
A site on the World Wide Web is the cheapest and perhaps most effective
form of advertising today. Traditional print and broadcast advertising
simply annoys people while they're trying to watch or listen to a program
or read a publication. On the Web, people are looking for your product
or service, you merely need to have something for them to find. While it
is of course important to have a well designed web site, the most
important decision is to have one at all. Considering the low costs
involved, how could you even consider allowing your competitors to get
the jump on you?
At Brand X, we offer several solutions to get your business on the Web
fast and cheap. You could have us place your site on our own web server
(Brand X Hosted Websites). Our fast server is
connected to our fast connection to the Internet. Another method is to
have your own server (your own computer). Once setup, you can connect
your server to the Internet in one of two ways. You can either have us
supply you with a T1 line and setup the server
at your location or bring your server to our location and we'll put it
on one of our shelves (co-located) where it'll be
connected to our high-speed connection to the Internet.
What is Server Co-Location?
Many customers think they need to get their own T1 connection to support
Web or FTP sites. Not neccessary! You can bring in your server to us and
connect it directly to our network to the Internet. This gives your
server T1 access at a fraction of the price of your own T1 connection!
You'll still be able to control your server and send files to it through
a standard modem connection.
Co-Location Pricing
We offer co-location starting at $300 per month. This includes 30Gb of
traffic per calendar month. Additional traffic is $10 per Gb per
calendar month. Please note that traffic is determined based on
extrapolations from brief samples. Brand X shall be the sole arbitor of
your level of traffic. Access is limited to business hours. Your
computer must support 10BaseT ethernet. There's no other way to get T1
access for your Web site at anything near this cost! It's the cheapest
way to put your entire server on a fast connection to the Internet!

If you don't already have one, Brand X would be happy to provide a
turnkey solution for about $4,000, depending on your exact requirements.
The basic unit is a Pentium computer running BSD Unix with the Apache Web
Server, e-mail, FTP, Telnet and all other Internet services. Or we'd be
happy to advise you on a cheaper system or even a really powerful server
for your big time web site.
Personal Web Sites are FREE!
Brand X offers a free, that's right free, 10 megabyte web site to all of
our dial-up customers. You can create your own Web pages and upload them
onto our server. Individual Web sites may contain information about
personal services or goods for sale by an individual, but may not
represent a company or partnership.
Business Web Sites
(Non-Virtual -- http://www.brandx.net/yourcompany)
Brand X charges a flat $25/month for 25 megabytes of web space on our
fast server which is connected to our fast connection to the Net. We do
not charge for traffic so long as it is reasonable. Usually, anything
except porn. Your site will be located at http://www.brandx.net/yoursite.
Additional space is available for $1/megabyte/month.
Business Web Sites
(Virtual -- http://www.yourbusiness.com)
This is known as virtual hosting. In addition to having your own custom
Internet domain name for the web, you can send and receive email with your
domain name, for example, yourname@yourdomain.com. (Note: suffixes other
than .com are available.) To obtain this service, an application must be
filed with a domain registrar such as Network Solutions or one of their
competitors, and an Internet Service Provider must provide name service
to your domain. Brand X will handle all of this for a one time fee of
$50 (not including the domain registrar's fee). A virtual site is also
$25 per month or $250 per year. Email is included if you have dialup
access with Brand X or is available for an additional $5/month or
$50/year. If you choose to prepay annually, we will waive the $50 setup
fee. (So by prepaying annually, you get 12 months for the price of 10, a
savings of $50 and you save the $50 setup fee, for a total savings of
$100!)

Just as important as having a web site, is how it looks.
Brand X has web designers that have won nearly every award there is for
Web site design, and we plan to keep collecting those awards. Would you
have your secretary or the copy jockey at Kinko's create your
print advertising campaign? We have designed sites for, among others, the
Directors Guild of America, the Producers and Writers Caucus, and the
Artists Rights Foundation. Your Web site is your presence on the Internet
and professional Web site creation can make the difference between a site
that people ignore and a site that makes an impression and a sale. We
offer highly competitive rates for Web site design. Our designers are
well versed in all of the most powerful and latest web technologies (e.g.
VRML, Java, Shockwave, Online Databases, Quicktime, streaming video, etc).
If you do not require a web site and only need to have a domain name
registered, Brand X can register and configure a domain name for you for
$100 for the first name and $50 for each additional domain name ordered
at the same time; not including the domain registrar's fees. A domain name
gives you the ability to have a site on the Internet with the name
http://www.yourdomain.com. (however to do this you must pay for web
hosting, see above). In addition, you can send and receive email at
yourname@yourdomain.com. For our fee, Brand X will handle everything
including the domain registrar's forms.

- Absolutely no SPAM'ing.
Brand X Internet's policy on SPAM
Brand X Internet does not condone the practice of spam'ing (the sending
of unwanted email). If we find anyone utilizing our network to send SPAM
(which includes collecting information in order to send SPAM, sending out
SPAM which includes a Brand X mailbox or Brand X hosted mailserver, or
sending out SPAM which advertises a site hosted on the Brand X network)
they agree to and will be billed $5.00 per email sent in addition to a
$10,000 per incident fine. In addition, we will, to the fullest extent
allowed by law, seek legal action on any individual(s), organization(s)
and or company(s) that violate this policy. Please report any violations
to Brand X Internet's Abuse Dept abuse@brandx.net.
- No adult hosting. You may not provide hosting services for any adult
material. (Please note: On Brand X, you may always download and view
whatever you wish. The restriction is against using your connection as a
point of distribution.)

Billing & Cancellation Policy
When you sign up with Brand X by the month or by the year, you are
specifically giving Brand X Internet permission to charge your credit
card each month or each year unless you cancel pursuant to our
cancellation policy.
Brand X does not pro-rate billing periods. If you have not cancelled
with Brand X pursuant to our cancellation policy, you will be charged for
that month or that year. Quitting after the billing period has commenced
does not entitle you to any refund.
Cancellation Policy
- Brand X's billing period begins on the first of the
month. To cancel without being charged for the next billing period, you
must cancel by no later than 5pm of the last business day of the
preceding month. For example if a 30-day month has the 30th day on a
Saturday, then you must cancel by 5pm of the 29th.
- To cancel, you must do BOTH of the following: Call our main number
and give them your full name and your Brand X username and state that
you wish to cancel; AND you must either email billing@brandx.net or fax us
with this same information. (Note: if you are a DSL customer without a
username, than you must specifically state that you are cancelling a DSL
account and give the phone number of the DSL line.)
- Brand X charges a $500 fee to handle unauthorized credit card
disputes. If you wish to dispute a charge, please call, fax, and/or
email billing@brandx.net. You must allow 4 business days for a response.
To avoid any dispute about your attempt to contact us, we suggest you
postal mail a letter regarding the dispute to our address below with
return receipt.
