I just spent a week in Arizona, researching an upcoming section on the Pilots at spring training. It's a previously untold chapter in the Pilots' saga that focuses on the construction of Pilots Field (now known as Tempe Diablo Stadium). Even though there's not much actual baseball in it, you'll find it a fascinating read. I hope to have it posted the first week of October.
We have another guest in the Interview section. This time, it's Jerry McNaul, who was intimately involved (hmmm, poor choice of words--see his answer to my question about former A's owner, Charlie Finley!) in the lawsuit against baseball resulting from the Pilots' move.

Finally, Turn Back the Clock Night was a huge success for the Mariners and while, frankly, an old-timer's game would have been better, they did a super job, bringing back a handful of players and some of the staff. My dad and I had a great time. I hope to share some photos with you soon, but in the meantime, if you took any shots, please e-mail them to me and I might use them. Unfortunately, it looks like game is no longer available for download on the Major League Baseball Web site.
