Recordings of Pilots radio broadcasts are extremely rare. Neither Bill Schonely, nor Jimmy Dudley's family has any and, according to the then-general manager of KVI radio, Jack Bankson, the games were not recorded by the station. Tapes of at least three complete games, however, made by fans, have survived. Two of these, Yankees and Angels broadcasts, were formerly sold by Danrick Enterprises. Unfortunately, when Danrick sold their collection to Major League Baseball, these tapes were withdrawn from the market. They will likely be made available to the public again at some point.
This section has clips from those two games and the only Dudley and Schonely broadcast I've found, plus interview segments from Pilots manager, Joe Schultz and odds and ends, including a station ID from KUOW and two Pilots jingles.
To hear the "home" clips, click on the PILOTS line score on the scoreboard below. To hear clips of Pilots games called by the Yankees and Angels announcers, click on the VISITOR line score. You'll need RealPlayer to hear them.
Thanks to Pilots collector, Charles Kapner, radio historian Don Taylor and Pilots fan, Norm C. for contributing to this page! I'm always looking for tapes of any other Pilots games. If you have any, please e-mail me.
